Privacy Policy
Terminal Guide respects reader privacy. This page explains what we collect, what we do with it, and how to control your data.
What we collect
When you visit Terminal Guide, our web server records standard HTTP request information including the page you requested, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your browser user-agent string, and the referring page if any. This information is used in aggregate to understand which guides are most useful to readers, to detect technical problems, and to improve the site. We do not require accounts, we do not collect names or email addresses through the site itself, and we do not maintain a mailing list for promotional purposes.
Cookies and similar technologies
Terminal Guide itself does not set any first-party cookies. Third-party services that we embed — including the contextual advertising network used on most of our pages and any analytics provider we use to measure aggregate traffic — may set cookies in your browser. Those cookies are governed by the privacy policies of the respective providers. Most modern browsers allow you to block third-party cookies in your settings; doing so will not prevent Terminal Guide from functioning.
Advertising
We display contextual advertising on most pages of the site to support the editorial work. Ad slots are clearly identified as such. Our advertising provider may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising through the standard industry tools at optout.aboutads.info and networkadvertising.org/choices, and in the EU/UK through the IAB transparency framework controls that appear in your browser when first visiting our site from those regions.
Analytics
We use a privacy-respecting analytics service to understand aggregate site traffic — total visits per page, average time on page, broad geographic distribution. The data we receive is aggregated and is not used to identify individual readers. We do not sell or share analytics data with third parties.
Data retention
Server logs are retained for a rolling 30-day window for operational and security purposes and are then deleted. Aggregate analytics data may be retained longer in fully anonymized form for trend analysis.
Your rights
If you have questions about how Terminal Guide handles data, or if you would like to exercise rights granted to you under applicable privacy law (including the right to know what personal data, if any, we hold about you, the right to deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information), please contact us at privacy@terminalguide.example. We respond to verifiable requests within the timeframes required by applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site evolves. The current version is always available at this URL, and the effective date appears below. Material changes will be summarized at the top of the page for a reasonable period after they take effect.
